On view at Paris Photo LA is Jess T. Dugan’s Self-Portrait (Muscle Shirt) , 2013. This piece is from her on-going series Every Breath We Drew. This body of work is incredibly intimate and raises questions about the idea of gender. It invites the viewer to share a private moment with the individual in the portrait including Jess T. Dugan herself. She is redefining the idea of masculinity and asking fundamental questions about identity. If you’re in LA you’ll want to see Self-Portrait (Muscle Shirt) , 2013 in person – hurry up to Stage 31 / Booth 16!

I was trying to make something more universal than just showing a group of people who share a similar identity. I wanted people to reflect on that process for themselves, and how we connect with people. -Jess T. Dugan
