Currently on view at CEG is a new body of work by Robert & Shana ParkeHarrison entitled, Gautier’s Dream. The work marks a return to b&w imagery that reveals their love of opera, dance and cinema. Inspired by French artist, writer and critic, Théophile Gautier, these new works explore dramas that unfold in front of an audience and behind the velvet curtain. While the artists were in Chicago for the opening reception and artist talk, we asked if they would send us a few pictures from their studio while they were working on the series. They kindly agreed and sent us several snapshots that give the viewer a peek behind the curtain and insight into their process.
Gautier’s Dream is on view through April 26, 2014.
We will be posting an Artist Talk video with Robert & Shana ParkeHarrsion next week. Click here to watch previous Artist Talk videos.
